Ever have thoughts of someone you know you don’t want to be reminded of or don’t want to think about anymore because you have moved on with your life. I know the feeling.
Whenever that happens to me, the following is what I do and yes, this does work. You don’t have to believe it, but if you do it is helpful. Once you start doing it and continue to do it, you will start believing it. Saying it out loud is better than saying it silently. It seems to be more real and more powerful in removing thoughts of someone you could careless about remembering.
It is best to leave the past in the past and it’s not about burning bridges necessarily, but some times that is needed to move forward in life. It’s OK to look back at the past in order to learn from it, but it’s not OK to dwell on the past.
Here are some different ways of what I say:
“You don’t belong there anymore. You aren’t a part of my life anymore and I don’t want you to be, so get out!”
“You don’t belong in my head. Get out!”
“Get out, there is no room in there for you.”
“Get out, I don’t want you there.”
“Get out of my head, out of my heart, out of my being. You don’t have any right to be there no longer.”
Believe me, I know how difficult it can be to remove certain people from your life. I’ve been there, but it can be done. Certain men from my past need to stay in my past as they were not good for me. When they come to my mind, those are things I say.
