Apple Pecan Sweetness

In a cereal bowl and stir in the following ingredients together for 1 serving:
1 apple with the peel (of your choice), cut up in bite size pieces; I like Gala, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, & Granny Smith)
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg, whole or ground (I use whole & use a zester grater to grate it)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger, powdered
Handful of chopped pecans, so 1/4 cup (walnuts are the next best nuts with apples if you don’t have pecans)
Drizzle honey on top, 1 to 2 tsp
Add 2 tbsp plain yogurt or 2 tsp cream or 2 tsp Kefir, this is optional

After you do these spices once in this mixture, you can add more or less to your liking or omit if there’s one you don’t like.

I eat this almost every day as a dessert (as I very seldom eat grains) and don’t crave other sweets due to eating this. I don’t measure any of the ingredients as I do it to taste.  It always tastes a little different because of that. In addition, I vary from using yogurt to cream to not using either. The taste of the different varieties of apples makes it taste different as well.  It’s my piece of sweetness for the day!

Growing up, I did not like apples. When I started eating organic food a few years ago, I found a love of apples and now can’t stop eating them. I eat at least one apple every day.  I don’t know why, but eating apples helps with some of the headaches I get so if it helps that I will continue to eat them.  They say “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.”  I would have to agree.
